That's right folks! The last posting was a year ago.  We have had a long and busy year this year at DHECP.  Hopefully we can keep up with the blog this year.  We will try and post every Friday and maybe sooner.

Water Play Day!

Our first Water Play Day was held on Wednesday June 6, 2012.
As you will see in the pictures, some of us were excited and some of us chose to just "chill" in the lounge chairs.  Can't wait for more.

National Freedom Day!

"As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master.  This expresses my idea of democracy."
- Abraham Lincoln

National Freedom Day commemorates the signing of the 13th Amendment outlawing slavery on February 1, 1865 by President Abraham Lincoln.  The idea to celebrate the holiday came from Major Richard Robert Wright Sr., who was a former slave.  He organized a group of leaders to write a bill for a national holiday that would celebrate freedom for all Americans, the holiday would take place on February 1.  It was first commemorated on February 1, 1942, although it was not an official holiday yet.  On June 30, 1948, President Harry Truman signed the bill.  Every year on this day, a wreath is laid at the Liberty Bell in celebration.

It's A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

"I'm putting my rainbow in the clouds, a sign of the covenant between me and the Earth."
Genesis 9:13 (The Message)

Wow!  What a show God gave us last night!
Thunder, lightning, and tornadoes!
And now the calm after the storm.
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood to enjoy God's creation.
